Does That Make Obama Apollo Creed?

Hillary compares herself to Rocky. TNR adds the obvious: Rocky loses in the end.

But Rocky does come back in Rocky II and win. Does that mean these 2012 whispers have credence?

Or was Clinton simply picking a local icon and shamelessly associating herself with it?

I think the Rocky comparisons are so 20 years ago. Let’s get someone comparing themselves to a character from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or, for the more bold, Twelve Monkeys. Or if you want more traditional fare, Witness. Amazon even has a nice list. If I were the Obama campaign, I would break out the line that this is the longest event in Pennsylvania since Groundhog Day. John McCain, on the other hand, could claim to have experienced tougher conditions than even Jean-Claude van Damme in Sudden Death.

Where is the creativity?
