McCain Compares Himself To Teddy Roosevelt

On April 15, John McCain will deliver a major speech on the economy. In setting the context for this speech, McCain compared himself to Teddy Roosevelt. From Jonathan Martin:
Continuing where he left off in his economic talk last week in Brooklyn and foreshadowing his major speech tomorrow on the topic tomorrow in Pittsburgh, McCain said “there is a role for government” in improving the economy. “There always is.”
“I am a Teddy Roosevelt Republican,” he reminded.
For a candidate that is having trouble rallying the party faithful to his cause, it probably doesn’t help to compare himself to a historical figure that broke from the party (*cough* 1912 election *cough* Woodrow Wilson won). Still, the comparison is apt…
