FEC Report: Hillary Clinton (April Monthly 2008)

April 21, 2008 | Permalink

On April 20, 2008, Hillary Clinton’s campaign filed its April Monthly FEC Report.  This report covers the period of Mar. 1 - 31, 2008.  Here’s the breakdown:

Total Raised In March: $20,931,870.78
Money Spent In March: $22,372,765.27
Cash On Hand At End Of March: $31,712,197.67
—> For Primary: Approx $9,000,000
—> For General Election: Approx $22,000,000
Debts: $10,321,562.87

*It’s worth noting that this report does not include the $2.5 million that Sen. Clinton raised at the recently held fundraiser with Elton John.

Sen. Clinton is in a similar financial position to the one she was in last month; it’s actually slightly worse when the numbers are analyzed, since her campaign actually began the month in the red with almost a million dollars more owed than they had available in primary funds.  A big win in Pennsylvania would certainly help her short term financial outlook.  It’s also worth adding that Clinton raised approximately $15 million online during the month of March, which demonstrates an increase in ability to raise money online.

Why isn’t more said about Elton Johns statements that if we didn’t support Hillary we are misogynists and we can all go to hell? Not hardly a word. You know if an Obama supporter had said something to that effect it would have been on the news 24/7 for days. She got a free pass. We are not woman haters. We don’t like Hillary and what she does and stands for. And I am not planning on going to hell thank you very much. That is despicable and Hillary should not approve of it. It is like she doesn’t know the people listening were voters. Half of the time I marvel at her considerable lack of thinking. Then she thinks she can make up all the ground by attacking and mistating. I have to say a lot of people seem to agree with her. I would like to see a little substance when she is speaking myself. Haven’t seen any yet.

Because it’s Elton John and no one seriously believes thal all the people not supporting HRC are misogynists.

I just took it as a statement against misogyny. For someone that’s not a politician, whatever. I’m sure some people are upset about racism regarding Obama and ageism or something similar regarding McCain.

I’m not equating them all, but calling on everyone to chill out.

Sorry for my ignorance, but can someone explain the discrepancies between the amounts allotted to the general election fund and the primary for HRC and the other two candidates? Both Obama and McCain are shown to have about 8 mill at hand for the general, whereas HRC has 22? I assumed that there’s some sort of cap on what they can allot from money raised during the primaries to a general election fund. But this looks like I’m wrong. ?

Also, what happens to the money reserved for McCain’s pre-general fund? Does it go to current steak dinners for the reporters in his trailer and then a slew of commercials right before the general season? Or can he roll it over?

Also-also, what about the ‘debts’? What’s that refer to, and when do those get paid?

Also-also-also, just because Elton John is a non-political-figure weirdo (with an absolutely stellar photo collection that he generously let us see one year in the ATL) doesn’t mean that he should be able to escape the media circus. I mean, come on. If John Cougar Mellencamp were to say tomorrow that if Hoosiers don’t vote for Obama, they’re racist morons and he’s going to kick their butts to the pit of hell, the media circus would gladly roar from the stands.

(Is it not hilarious that both the Boss and Mellencamp have just essentially deprived McCain and Hillary of pandering-to-blue-collars-in-tha-Heartland by blasting their music at rallies? Ha-ha! Take that! Now who’s the real elitist, baby?! Elton freakin John’s pick for prez!)

Got something to say?
