Obama Campaign, Democratic Party to Make Major Announcement Regarding Republican “Lose Your Home, Lose Your Vote” Scheme in Michigan

DETROIT, MI – Today at 12:30 pm ET Obama Campaign General Counsel Bob Bauer and Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer will hold a conference call to make a major announcement about the Republican “Lose Your Home, Lose Your Vote” scheme in Michigan.

In an interview with the Michigan Messenger last week, Macomb County Republican Party Chairman James Carabelli discussed GOP plans to systematically deny the vote to citizens who have wrestled with foreclosure, saying, “We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses.” Despite his more recent denials, the plan remains a real threat to Michigan voters – and underscores John McCain’s own admission that he is “divorced from the day-to-day challenges that people face.”

McCain – who said yesterday that “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” – has his Michigan campaign headquarters in the law offices of a mortgage foreclosure attorney.
