Obama-Biden Campaign to Host Conference Call to Discuss Obama’s Economic Rescue Plan For The Middle Class
Chicago, IL – Today the Obama-Biden campaign will host a conference call with Obama-Biden Economic Policy Director Jason Furman to discuss Obama’s economic rescue plan for the middle class. Senator Obama will deliver a major economic policy speech later today in Toledo, OH where he will unveil his economic rescue plan for the middle class. Our economy is facing its greatest uncertainty in over 70 years, we have lost 760,000 jobs this year and the unemployment rate is expected to reach 8 percent. Families, who saw their incomes decline by $2,000 in the economic “expansion” from 2000 to 2007 now risk seeing deeper income losses. Retirement savings accounts have lost $2 trillion. Millions of homeowners who played by the rules have seen their housing values plummet and are having a hard time making their mortgage payments. And credit markets are nearly frozen, preventing businesses large and small from accessing the credit they need to meet payroll and create jobs.

McCain Press Conference Call: To Announce Coalition to Protect Coal Jobs

[McCain-Palin Campaign Press Conference Call from September 23, 2008]
MEDIA ADVISORY
McCain-Palin Campaign Announces Coalition to Protect Coal JobsARLINGTON, VA — Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV), former Virginia Governor and Senator George Allen, former Congressman Scott McInnis (R-CO) and RNC Chairman Mike Duncan will announce the McCain-Palin campaign’s Coalition to Protect Coal Jobs, a nationwide group including members of Congress, state government and other influential leaders. The coalition will help spread the message about the importance of clean coal technology and the advantages of tapping the country’s vast coal reserves. As part of John McCain’s “all of the above” energy plan, the Lexington Project, clean coal will be a strong component of the drive to energy independence. In addition to providing domestic energy, the coal industry is a key part of the economy in several states.
John McCain’s support for clean coal technology is in sharp contrast to that of his opponents. Joe Biden visited Virginia on Saturday, saying that he was a “hard-coal miner” and that it was “nice to be back in coal country” while Obama supporter, Congressman Rick Boucher (D-VA) said “Senator Obama’s a friend of coal.” But just two days later in Ohio, Senator Biden said he wants “no coal plants here in America” and that he and Senator Obama are “not supporting clean coal.”

Obama Campaign, Democratic Party to Make Major Announcement Regarding Republican “Lose Your Home, Lose Your Vote” Scheme in Michigan
DETROIT, MI – Today at 12:30 pm ET Obama Campaign General Counsel Bob Bauer and Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer will hold a conference call to make a major announcement about the Republican “Lose Your Home, Lose Your Vote” scheme in Michigan.
In an interview with the Michigan Messenger last week, Macomb County Republican Party Chairman James Carabelli discussed GOP plans to systematically deny the vote to citizens who have wrestled with foreclosure, saying, “We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses.” Despite his more recent denials, the plan remains a real threat to Michigan voters – and underscores John McCain’s own admission that he is “divorced from the day-to-day challenges that people face.”
McCain – who said yesterday that “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” – has his Michigan campaign headquarters in the law offices of a mortgage foreclosure attorney.

Phil “Nation of Whiners” Gramm Blames Michigan for Economic Struggles
Detroit, MI—Former Congressman David Bonior and Gene Sperling, a Michigan native who was National Economic Advisor under President Clinton, will hold a conference call at 1 p.m. EST tomorrow to discuss the latest round of out-of-touch economic finger pointing from John McCain’s top economic advisor – an editorial co-authored by Phil Gramm and Exxon lobbyist Michael Solon claiming that the blame for Michigan’s record unemployment and declining manufacturing base belongs to Michigan rather than the failed Bush-McCain economic policies of the last eight years.
Senator Phil Gramm, McCain’s top economic advisor who made himself famous by calling America “a Nation of Whiners” and saying we were experiencing a “mental recession,” co-authored the editorial for the Wall Street Journal headlined: “If You Like Michigan’s Economy, You’ll Love Obama’s.” The editorial blames Michigan’s economic troubles on unions and the minimum wage rather than eight years of disastrous economic policies which McCain and Gramm pledge to continue.
